Jack grew up in Utah, where he developed a passion for fly fishing and aquatic ecosystems (as well as bikes). He then attended Utah State University, earning a B.S. in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. After graduation, Jack fulfilled a lifelong dream of moving to the Oregon coast, where he hoped to be able to assist in the recovery of the anadromous salmonids he considers sacred. In his spare time, Jack is most likely to be found at Whiskey Run mountain bike trails with a smile on his face!

Memorable experience in Coos County?

“One of my favorite memories, and an image that I will never forget, is the first time I saw brown pelicans flying just above the ocean’s surface. Waves breaking and crashing in ways that seemed unpredictable to me were easily navigated by these large but incredibly graceful birds. It was almost like they were surfing the waves without actually touching them. I had never seen anything like it. I love it here in Coos County!”
